I decided to create a post about packing your makeup for a specific purpose, travel. I used to struggle quite a bit with organizing and choosing what to bring on trips. After quite a few road-trips and vacations, I have figured out what products are an absolute must versus what you can leave at home. Also, it’s good to keep in mind that there may be some cool makeup and beauty products to buy at your destination. Going for a little (or big) beauty shopping spree is always a fun activity to add to your checklist, especially when visiting a foreign country.
Using the tips below, you will become an expert when it comes to packing your makeup. Getting your travel cosmetic organizer vacation-ready, you will see, is going to become a breeze.
The best way to start is by picking out your favorite products for each category. Look through your entire makeup collection when doing this. You might find something awesome you forgot you had, and taking it with you on vacation will be the perfect occasion to make good use of it.
Separate your favorites into 3 categories.
- Face: Foundation, concealer, bronzer, blush, highlighter
- Eyes: Eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara
- Lips: Lip moisturizer, lipliner, lipstick, lipgloss (optional)
Pick One of Each
Grab one of each. Do a rundown of the simple essentials checklist
- 1- Foundation
- 1- Undereye concealer
- 1- Blemish concealer
- 1- Compact bronzer
- 1- Blush
- 1- Highlighter
- 1- Translucent powder
- 4-12 neutral shadows, ranging light to dark
- 1-12 colorful, sparkly, or shimmery shadows, if you plan on any glam
- 1 top-lid eyeliner
- 1- mascara
- 2-4 lip moisturizers
- 1-3 shades of lipliners
- 1-5 shades of lipstick
- 1- lipgloss
Don’t Forget Your Brushes!
Decide on the application tools you will need for any of the makeup you are bringing with you. Maybe you use a Beautyblender to apply foundation, or you have a particular favorite eyeliner flat brush you always need on deck.
Pack It Up
When packing all of your cosmetics and tools, it is important to make sure you will remember where you put everything so you can easily access it on-the-go, while traveling. All the tools should be stored in a separate, sanitary, section or separate case from your makeup.
Keep all the face products together. Depending on the size of the makeup bag you are using, it’s helpful to put the larger items at the bottom. Usually, that is mostly going to be face products like foundations or powder compacts. If have some more room, put in the eyeshadows. Place them in a way that is logical to you.
As for the rest of the items, eyliners, lipliners, licksticks, etc… put those in a smaller bag or case.
Keeping the items organized will really help you while traveling. Get ready faster so you can experience more, and have more time to make memories on your trip.
It is easy to get carried away when deciding which lipsticks or eye shadow palettes to bring. I hope this post was helpful to you. Let me know in the comments what daily must-have makeup products you can’t go without.
